The Missing: Season 1 | Rotten Tomatoes (1) Inkoo Kang MTV A skepticism toward institutions, both international and domestic, never gets specific enough to become hard-hitting criticism. I'd rather watch a bricklayer at his job; at least he won't pretend there's a larger moral point to his work. Feb 16, 2017 Full Review The Missing: Season 1 | Rotten Tomatoes (2) Michael Idato Sydney Morning Herald Nesbitt and O'Connor are stunning. Equally brilliant is Tcheky Karyo, who plays the French detective Julien Baptiste. Sep 26, 2016 Full Review The Missing: Season 1 | Rotten Tomatoes (3) John Doyle Globe and Mail There is a depth of feeling to it that you connect with, if you have accrued life's experiences of loss, doubt and regret. It is also a bloody brilliant thriller. Nov 25, 2014 Full Review The Missing: Season 1 | Rotten Tomatoes (4) Sophie Banks Cultured Vultures Tony's (Nesbitt) first scene is powerful, we see he has been broken down by past events... The script by brothers, Harry and Jack Williams, is complex and well-thought out. Oct 3, 2019 Full Review The Missing: Season 1 | Rotten Tomatoes (5) Bernice Harrison Irish Times I didn't expect the final episode to be such a mixture of neat endings and open-ended misery. Aug 14, 2017 Full Review The Missing: Season 1 | Rotten Tomatoes (6) Jeff Beck The Blu Spot The Missing is a fascinating, unique, and ambitious piece of storytelling that one can't help but get engrossed in. S The worst ending of any show I've ever watched. Shabbily put together and strayed from the entire theme leading up to it. HUGE disappointment to an enjoyable earlier watch. Who came up with this ending??! TERRIBLE Rated 1/5 Stars • Rated 1 out of 5 stars 03/09/23 Full Review Bart d Great serie. Slow TV but thrilling till the end. With great, intense acting. Highly recommended. Rated 4.5/5 Stars • Rated 4.5 out of 5 stars 02/07/23 Full Review michelle h This is a captivating series which a majority of audiences will like. But it had some flaws that could make lesser fans of mystery throw in the towel before the final episode. The biggest issue is how drawn out the series feels. A good cut would be useful by tightening up some of the character reactions and dialogue and improving the flow which ultimately would get us closer to the scant breadcrumbs provided by the filmmakers about the boy's disappearance which is what I personally cared about most. Also, I thought the two main actors (James Nesbitt and Francis O'Connor) overacted in the middle episodes which brought the series down for me somewhat. It is understandable the anger, frustration and sadness parents would have when their boy first goes missing and as they get closer to finding out the truth, but along the way things felt forced, particularly by Nesbitt, an actor I respect. Luckily, the brilliant Tchéky Karyo played the detective in the series and he helped make up for the series faults. To be honest, the levity of his character provided a much needed balance and was what kept me coming back for more. I wouldn't have been able to endure too much more of the heaviness Nesbitt kept doling out. Rated 3.5/5 Stars • Rated 3.5 out of 5 stars 03/30/23 Full Review Audience Member Mildly entertaining but ruined by bad acting and bad script. Nothing ever makes sense her. For example, this scene in episode 2 where they find the drawing on the wall, this female detective keeps smirking right in front of the dad which is so crazy but also she says it must be a coincidence. The scarf AND the drawing yet you still think it's coincidence?? Nothing ever makes any sense. Rated 1.5/5 Stars • Rated 1.5 out of 5 stars 01/09/23 Full Review Audience Member Quite gripping at first, as the plot and characters are established, but then it all fades away, back and forth between present and retrospect, but like there's a compulsion to make it complex, until it gets too convolted and it all nearly falls apart. Also some of the characters lose credibility and the acting performances vary steadily more in quality, with tendentious over acting or one-dimensionality character building. The total becomes divergent. Rated 2/5 Stars • Rated 2 out of 5 stars 01/09/23 Full Review Audience Member Very underrated mystery series, good suspance from the beginning to the end. Not 5 stars cause of the last 10 minutes of the last episode... Rated 4/5 Stars • Rated 4 out of 5 stars 01/09/23 Full Review Read all reviews
