Critics Consensus

Strong performances and a lovely setting are half the battle for Made in Italy -- unfortunately, the other half is lost by a disappointingly slight story.

Rated: 2/5 Mar 25, 2021 Full Review Made in Italy (2020) | Rotten Tomatoes (3) Leslie Felperin Guardian Realism is clearly not a strong suit for writer-director James D'Arcy, but he gets pretty good comic performances from his likeable cast, which includes Lindsay Duncan as an acerbic estate agent. Rated: 3/5 Mar 25, 2021 Full Review Made in Italy (2020) | Rotten Tomatoes (4) Jesse Hassenger Decider Ultimately, this is a family drama in the vein of Neeson’s lower-tier thrillers: It gets the job done with some efficiency, but it’s hard not to think of the many times Neeson himself has done similar, better movies. Feb 10, 2024 Full Review Made in Italy (2020) | Rotten Tomatoes (5) Manuel São Bento MSB Reviews Made in Italy has indeed an emotionally compelling father-son story that many viewers will surely connect with, but James D'Arcy's directorial and screenplay debut is not going to be remembered for long. Corey A nice little movie with great cast , storyline and scenery. Maybe will see it again. Rated 4.5/5 Stars • Rated 4.5 out of 5 stars 08/16/20 Full Review Barrie S Delightful film. Beautiful Tuscan scenery, superb acting. Probably predictable but a pleasant and welcome escape from today’s violence, hatred & foul language. Rated 5/5 Stars • Rated 5 out of 5 stars 12/15/24 Full Review Mark H Some nice Italian scenery in this but the acting is wooden (especially Liam Neeson), the plot is predictable and the story is dull. A lot of emotional glances about a relationship with a father and son that no longer connect after the death of the mother of Micheal Richardson’s character. The characters are meant to be healing their broken relationship, but it is never very clear what the rift is about to begin with, other than the father shutting out the son. This movie is only worth watching for the scenery. Rated 1.5/5 Stars • Rated 1.5 out of 5 stars 11/13/24 Full Review bob c Junk. Neeson is asleep and his son is hopeless. Rated 1/5 Stars • Rated 1 out of 5 stars 11/02/24 Full Review Kieran F Created an account to express my disappointment with this movie. Rated 1/5 Stars • Rated 1 out of 5 stars 11/02/24 Full Review Dr G S Every imaginable - and unimaginative - cliche is jammed in here. A weak plot, and time-worn tropes trotted out to fill the space. Proves that a good cast-list and great scenery can't redeem a vacuous screenplay. Rated 1/5 Stars • Rated 1 out of 5 stars 10/31/24 Full Review Read all reviews
